Textio named to Forbes AI 50: America’s Most Promising Artificial Intelligence Companies

Forbes features Textio for second consecutive year

Artificial intelligence can often feel like a buzzword. The Forbes AI 50 list aims to “cut through the spin” and honor only the most interesting and promising companies that are implementing AI in meaningful business-oriented ways. We’re honored that Textio has again been selected for the second consecutive year.

Forbes partnered with venture firms Sequoia Capital and Maritech Capital to create their second annual AI 50, a list of privately held companies in the US that are using artificial intelligence techniques like machine learning, natural language processing, and/or computer vision.

One notable trend identified by Forbes this year: augmented intelligence is on the rise. Textio, the inventor of augmented writing, has been at the forefront of this trend that applies advanced technologies to help humans do their jobs better, not replace them with automation. Textio uses AI and machine learning to analyze over 600 million documents to surface language patterns in writing and suggest alternatives to change their impact. Writers can be more intentional in their language choices, empowered by data-backed insights on how they will be received.

Forbes also identified two additional trends on the list: self-driving technologies and healthcare applications to discover drugs or diagnoses disease faster. Silicon Valley also remains a hub for AI startups; Textio is one of 16 on the list that are not based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The list was compiled through an open submission process that attracted over 400 applicants. Submissions were evaluated by VC partners and an expert panel based on their technology, business model, customers, and financials (including funding and revenue). See the full 2020 Forbes AI 50 list
