Trending data from the last 12 months shows that demand for these roles will keep going higher this year
The time that it takes to hire someone into an open position is a key metric for recruiters. And typically time-to-fill is correlated to the relative scarcity of qualified candidates for that position in your market. It’s classic supply vs. demand: if there are a lot of qualified applicants for a role, the job will get filled faster, but with fewer candidates available, it will take longer.
To forecast jobs that will be in high demand for 2017, we ran a trending analysis from Textio’s data from last year, and came up with a list of jobs that were much slower to fill at the end of 2016 compared to the beginning of the year.
Product management comes out on top with the biggest increase in time-to-fill over the last 12 months. The related disciplines of project management and program management also made the top 10, so if that sounds like your title, dust off that resume — you’re in high demand this year!
Here’s the top 10 list of jobs that will be in higher demand in 2017:
- Product management
- Sales and marketing
- Engineer
- Vice President
- Data management
- Program management
- Project management
- Communications
- Software development
- Human resources
Apparently Textio itself is following these trends very closely—right now we’re looking for Vice President (#4) roles in Product (#1), Sales (#2), and Engineering (#3). We also have 8 positions open for engineers!
