Job posts with the word “super” perform poorly everywhere else
This blog is called Word Nerd for a reason: we’re obsessed with language data! Especially if that language is commonly found in recruiting job posts.
Recently we’ve shared data about how awesome, competitive, and even rock stars perform in hiring content. Often there are differences in phrase performance across different geographies, but occasionally we find a phrase that across-the-board performs poorly everywhere. The word “super” is one of those … almost.
There are 5 cities where “super” in a job post predicts faster hiring:
- Washington, DC
- London, UK
- Anchorage, AK
- Cleveland, OH
- Chicago, IL
But in most other cities, “super” in a job post predicts slow time to fill. Here is a list of the worst cities for “super” jobs:
- Philadelphia, PA
- Miami, FL
- Boston, MA
- San Francisco, CA
- Seattle, WA
- Portland, OR
- Phoenix, AZ
- Los Angeles, CA
- Salt Lake City, UT
- Denver, CO
- New York, NY
